Chocolate oil mousse with strawberries

Valentine’s Day dessert

Google: “A mousse is a soft prepared food that incorporates air bubbles to give it a light and airy texture. It can range from light and fluffy to creamy and thick, depending on preparation techniques. A mousse may be sweet or savory.”

I see so many different flavour and method of making mousse. So, I am tempted to try from scratch. I know how to make chocolate with chocolate and oil, I assuming it would be the same with adding egg and gelatine to help airy bubbles, thicken and make it creamy I have added milk and banana. Green apple for sweetness.

I am glad it turned out to my liking. Great to get it ready for Valentine’s Day. I have chill it for 1 hour like panna cotta method. My mousse is thick, full of chocolate, creamy and delightful to have and share with you.

150 g dark melting chocolate
100 ml olive oil
1 egg
2 bananas
1 green apple
50 ml milk
1 Tbs cocoa powder
1/2 Tbs brandy (OPT)
2 Tsp gelatine powder

whipping cream
chocolate sprinkles

Melt chocolate in microwave, got to watch and stir each 30 seconds don’t want it burnt. Making sure chocolate are dissolve. Stir in oil mix well. Set aside to cool 15 minutes. Cut apple to bite size and remove core. Cut up bananas to bite size too.

Add bananas, milk, egg, apple and the cool chocolate into the blender and blend it till smooth. Then pour into a bowl, add cocoa powder, gelatine powder and brandy. Fold in everything gently to incorporated. Spoon the mousse into glasses. Texture should be soft and smooth.

Chill in fridge for 1 hour. Before eating, take out to room temperature 25 minutes. Meantime cut strawberries and fill with whipping cream in one and sprinkle chocolate sprinkles on each glass.

Note: You can use any fruits instead of banana and green apple. You can omit gelatine powder. You can add more raw eggs as it helps bring it bubbly aired consistency.
