Bought strawberries, blueberries, sour cream, biscuits crumbs, and a bottle of fresh orange juice. Decided to make smoothie instead of a cake. I am using my wine glass for presentation.
“A smoothie is a thick drink made by blending a liquid base with fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, yogurt, or protein supplements. It can pack multiple servings of produce and superfoods into one glass, providing key vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and gut-friendly fiber. Adding yogurt or kefir supplies beneficial probiotics. When made with complex carbs, protein (such as Greek yogurt or protein powder), and healthy fats (like avocado, chia seeds, or nuts), a smoothie offers steady energy, supports fullness, and can replace a meal or snack if portions are managed. Using water, coconut water, or plant-based milks as the base also helps keep you hydrated throughout the day.”
Strawberries and blueberries are nutrient-dense, low-calorie berries rich in fiber, vitamins, and antioxidants. Strawberries (Fragaria genus) are bright red, juicy fruits especially high in vitamin C and folate, providing over 100% of daily vitamin C per cup for immune support and collagen production. Blueberries (Vaccinium genus) are small blue-to-purple berries rich in anthocyanins, manganese, and total antioxidant capacity, and they also help improve insulin sensitivity. Regular intake of these anthocyanin- and polyphenol-rich berries supports heart health by lowering blood pressure, improving blood vessel elasticity, and reducing heart disease risk, while also combating oxidative stress and inflammation to support memory and slow age-related cognitive decline. Both berries are low-glycemic, helping prevent blood sugar spikes, and provide dietary fiber that promotes regular digestion and nourishes beneficial gut bacteria, with blueberries offering slightly more fiber per cup and strawberries offering higher water content.
Here’s my healthy smoothie and creative drink. Let’s get the Nutri Bullet out to make a smoothie!!!
Ingredients
250 g strawberries, fresh
180 g blueberries, fresh
1/4 c bought fresh orange juice
80-100 g sour cream depending on how thick and tangy you prefer your base
1 Tsp honey or if you like sweeter 1 Tbs honey
Garnish
bought biscuits crumbs
some blueberries
some strawberries
Method
Rinse the strawberries and blueberries. Remove the green leafy tops from the strawberries. Pour the 1/4 cup of orange juice into the bottom of Nutri Bullet so the blades spin easily.
Scoop in your sour cream, then add the 250 g of strawberries and 150 g of blueberries. Add 1 Tsp honey or if you like sweeter, add 1 Tbs honey. Cover with the Nutri Bullet lid and blend for 30 to 40 seconds until the mixture is completely smooth and creamy.
Pour into wine glasses, top up a bit more orange juice, and stir a couples of stirs. Chill for 30 minutes, before serving, sprinkles some biscuits crumbs in the centre, then place 3 blueberries next to biscuits crumbs. Then slit the bottom of strawberries and leaving the stem intact. Place it on the rim of glasses. Enjoy!!!
