Oats blueberries chia seeds with honey

I bought a box of Uncle Toby’s oats with blueberries and Manuka honey, and I couldn’t wait to eat them as soon as I got home, so I decided to add some chia seeds as well.

“Oats are a whole-grain food, known scientifically as Avena sativa. The most intact and unprocessed form of oats is the oat groat, which takes a long time to cook. Because of this, many people prefer rolled, crushed, or steel-cut oats instead. Instant (quick) oats are the most highly processed variety. They cook the fastest, but their texture can be mushy. Oats are most commonly eaten for breakfast as oatmeal, made by boiling oats in water or milk. Oatmeal is often called porridge. Oats are also frequently used in muffins, granola bars, cookies, and other baked goods.”

“The nutrient composition of oats is well balanced. They are a good source of carbs and fiber, including the fiber beta-glucan. Oats also provide essential amino acids. In addition, they are rich in important vitamins, minerals, and antioxidant plant compounds. Whole oats are particularly high in antioxidants and beneficial plant compounds called polyphenols.”

This is a simple, healthy meal that I can enjoy any time. Let’s cook!

Ingredients

1 packet Uncle Toby’s blueberries (instant)
1/2 c milk
1 Tbs extra milk or water
1 Tsp chia seeds
blueberries
Manuka honey
a few drops of water

Method

Empty the dry oat sachet into a deep, microwave-safe bowl. Add the chia seeds and stir them into the dry oats so they don’t clump. Pour in milk, and stir well to ensure everything is mixed evenly.

Microwave for 30 seconds, give a stir, then microwave again further 30 seconds. Give a couple of stirs. Place back into microwave for further 30 seconds. Carefully remove the hot bowl from the microwave.

Spoon 1-2 Tbs of Manuka honey onto sauce, and add a few drop drops (about 1 Tsp ) of water to dilute a bit. Carefully remove the hot bowl from the microwave. Let the oats sit for 1 minute before eating. This allows the chia seeds to plump up completely and gives you a thick, extra-creamy texture.

Drizzle Manuka honey over the top in circle and design. You don’t have to dilute nor make design. Now place bluberries in a circle starting from the edges and moving into the centre. Enjoy!!!
