Shin ram yun bok choy pork combination balls sesame seeds noodle soup

Bought my favourite noodles, bok choy and combination balls. My lazy quick meal with not much of utensils to wash.

“Bok choy is a nutrient-dense Chinese cabbage with health benefits due to its high vitamins C, A, K, calcium, and antioxidants that support immune health, bone strength, and cancer prevention. It has a mild, crisp, slightly peppery flavour, and both its leaves and stems are edible, making it versatile for various dishes. Rich in essential nutrients, it aids in maintaining strong bones and regulating blood pressure while providing dietary fiber. This low-calorie food is suitable for many diets.”

“Pork combination balls, or kòng-ôan, are traditional meatballs made from finely minced pork, starch, and sometimes seafood, known for their chewy, bouncy texture and savoury flavour. They are versatile in Asian cuisine, used in soups, hot pots, and noodle dishes, and can be steamed, boiled, or braised. Common ingredients include seasonings, soy sauce, and garlic, making them a staple in Chinese and Southeast Asian cooking.”

“Sesame seeds, from the Sesamum indicum plant, are nutrient-dense, containing fiber, healthy fats, protein, and antioxidants. They support heart health, blood sugar management, and reduce inflammation and cholesterol. Three tablespoons provide fiber for gut health, and their nutrients aid in bone health and reduce arthritis pain. Additionally, they are sources of iron, copper, and manganese, essential for immune and metabolic functions, while antioxidants help reduce oxidative stress. Sesame seeds can be allergens and should be stored in a cool, dark place in an airtight container.”

Eat everything in moderation. There are ingredients that are healthy, yet simple to cook and can be a great ingredients to add to instant noodles. My meal is spicy, healthy and delicious. Let’s cook!!!

Ingredients

Bok choy

1 small bunch of bok choy
1 Tbs minced garlic
1 Tbs Shao Xing Chinese cooking wine
1 Tbs light soy sauce
oil
salt
pepper

Shin ram yun noodles pork balls and sesame seeds

1 packet instant shin ram yun noodles
5 pork combination balls
sesame seeds
water

Method

Bok choy

Thoroughly wash, cut end stems off and then cut bite sized. Make sure to really dry the bok choy (extra water makes it soggy). Heat 1 Tbs oil in a saucepan over medium-high heat. Add minced garlic and stir-fry for 15–30 seconds until fragrant, taking care not to burn it.

Add the bok choy stems, and stir-fry for 2 minutes. Pour in the Shaoxing wine, and light soy sauce. Cook for another 1–2 minutes until the leaves are wilted and stalks are tender-crisp. Season with a bit of salt and lots of pepper. Plate immediately. Cover with a plastic cover with holes.

Open the shin ram yun noodles and condiments. Using the same saucepan, bring about 2.5 c of water to a boil. Add the pork combination balls to the boiling water. Lower the heat to medium-high and let them cook for 5–7 minutes, or until they float to the surface, indicating they are cooked through.

Add the Shin ram yun noodles, and condiments. Cook for further 5 -6 minutes, or until the noodles are soften. When done cooking, scoop everything out except the soup on to the bowl. Now ladle the soup in. Next spoon enough bok choy with a bit of sauce into shin ram yun noodles soup with pork combination balls. Scatter some sesame seeds over the top. Serve immediately with a cup of green tea. Enjoy!!!
