Red wine berries smoothie

Berry Good

Here’s another red wine and berries smoothie. I had learned a new method of freezing red wine in ice cubes tray. I had poured a bottle of cabernet sauvignon into the ice cubes tray two days in advance. Today, I am using strawberries, blueberries and raspberries, orange liqueur and honey.

Google: “A wine smoothie, also known as a wine slushie or wine cocktail, is a chilled and blended beverage that combines wine with various ingredients like fresh fruit, ice, sweeteners, and sometimes other spirits. The result is a refreshing and fruity concoction that’s often served as a chilled and frosty treat, perfect for warm weather or as a fun twist on traditional wine drinking.”

“To make a wine smoothie, you typically blend wine with your chosen ingredients until it reaches a slushy or smoothie like consistency. The exact recipe can vary, with options ranging from sweet and fruity combinations to more sophisticated mixes. Some wine smoothies may include white or red wine, while others might use sparkling wine or champagne as a base.”

I admit that this method of freezing red wine, did wonder to my smoothie. There’s a swirl of flavour as well as coolness. Let’s make red wine smoothie!!!

Ingredients

10 strawberries, stems removed
100 g raspberries
100 g blueberries
4-6 red wine (Cabernet Sauvignon) ice cubes
1/4 c orange liqueur
1 tsp honey (OPT)

Method

Removed the red wine ice cubes from tray. Place all ingredients to a high-speed blender. Start with red wine ice cubes, strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, honey, and orange liqueur. Blitz until smooth. Divide between glasses, chill for 1 hours in fridge. Note: I place them in a metal bowl and in the freezer for 15-20 minutes to get some frosty bits when pour into glasses. Removed from freezer for about 5-7 minutes, and ladle into glasses.

Note: Don’t use expensive wine. You can use frozen berries instead of fresh. You can use yoghurt or orange juice along with wine but you have to reduce wine.
