Strawberry oats smoothie

Got some strawberry and oats that have been sitting in my pantry for one whole year. Then my sour cream going to expire tomorrow. My sister gave me some of her homegrown mini oranges. Have been trying to think what to do?

Thought I should bake a cake using sour cream and thickened cream that will expire in 5 days. Then I thought if bake a cake. I am the only one going to be eating the cake. So, I think again and finally I came out with the idea of making use oats to go with my sour cream. Let’s get the blender out and have a big glass of smoothie. Glad I made strawberry smoothie. It’s thick consistency and yummy great with orange, molasses and strawberry decoration. Enjoy my smoothie in the backyard with some sunshine.


4 strawberries, remove stems and cut into halved
1/2 c oats
1/2 c almond milk
5 Tbs sour cream
4 Tbs water
1 1/4 Tbs chia seeds
pinch of nutmeg


1 strawberry, remove stem
1/2 mini orange, segments, remove seeds
squirt molasses (OPT)


Put all the ingredients in Nutri Bullet and blend until smooth or to your desired consistency. Pour into glass and garnish with a small squirt molasses around the middle, place one strawberry in the centre of molasses followed by orange segments. I put in the fridge for 30 minutes to cool it as well as to let chia seeds seep in.

Note: You can eat straight away if you like. You can omit sour cream and just use almond milk. You may omit molasses just use honey. You may use any fruits of your choice. You can use whole full cream milk too.
