Do you crave for mud cake? I do as much as I crave for chocolate. It’s not a sin to have craving for mud cake. I browse and found an easiest mud cake recipe. After reading through it looks so easy, and it has ingredients that I have handy in my pantry and fridge.

The original recipe is attached at the bottom. So, I just have got to make it and to curb my craving. The cake is yummy licking fingers. I couldn’t wait for it to cool further to sprinkle icing sugar. Let’s bake!!!!

1 1/2 cups hot water
250 g butter
200 g dark cooking chocolate
1/4 cups cocoa powder
2 cups caster sugar
2 egg lightly beaten
2 tsp vanilla essence
1 1/2 cups self-raising flour


Preheat oven 150 degrees C. In a saucepan over low heat melt together, butter, cocoa, chocolate, sugar, vanilla and hot water. When cooled add flour and eggs and mix well. The mixture will be very runny.

Pour into a lined square tin and bake for 1 hour and 15 minutes. Allow to cool for 5 minutes before turning out.

Note: may be served re-heated in the microwave or cool with cream or ice cream.
