Strawberry oats figs and cherry tomatoes

Bought Uncle Toby instant mixed fruits flavoured oat. Today, I am using strawberry flavoured oats, and have 2 cherry tomatoes left. Adding figs in too. At time my meals are quite strange combination. As you know I don’t like wasting food. Be thankful to have food on the table.

“Cherry tomatoes are small, bite-sized, round fruits of the Solanum lycopersicum plant, technically classified botanically as fruit but commonly prepared and eaten as vegetables. They are considered fruits because they develop from a flower and contain seeds. They are small, roughly the size of a cherry, often sweeter than larger tomatoes, and have a firm texture. Due to their savory taste, they are considered culinary vegetables used in salads, sauces, and cooking. They help fight heart disease, reduce blood pressure, and decrease the risk of stroke due to high levels of potassium and antioxidants. They contain antioxidants like lycopene, which may offer protection against prostate and breast cancers. Rich in vitamins A, C, and potassium, they offer major health benefits, including heart health support, lower blood pressure, cancer prevention, and eye health, thanks to high levels of lycopene, antioxidants, and nutrients.”

“Figs are nutrient-dense fruits rich in fiber, potassium, calcium, and antioxidants, promoting digestive and heart health while supporting bone density and providing energy. Both fresh and dried varieties are nutritious, though dried figs are more calorie-dense. Their high fiber content aids digestion, and potassium helps manage cholesterol and blood pressure. Figs also supply essential vitamins and minerals, including Vitamins A, K, B, iron, and magnesium, while containing polyphenols and flavonoids that combat inflammation. However, due to their high natural sugar content, consumption should be moderate, as excessive intake may cause digestive issues and interfere with blood-thinning medications.

My simple healthy breakfast that is healthy and weird. I am glad to have food to eat. Let’s be thankful and cook!!!

Ingredients

1 packet of instant strawberry flavoured oat
2 figs, cut into bite size
2 cherry tomatoes, halved
1/2 c skim milk

Method

Empty the oat packet into a bowl with a plate at the bottom for easy holding when it’s hot. Add in milk. Next, add in tomatoes and figs. Give a couple of stirs. Place into the microwave, and cook the oats with milk, figs, and tomatoes for 30 seconds. Open the microwave door and stir a couple of times.

Cling wrap the bowl and cook for a further 30 seconds. Now open the door and remove the cling wrap. Stir a couple of times. Then cover with the cling wrap and cook again for another 30 seconds. Now it’s ready. Open the microwave door and use a cloth to remove the plate with the bowl of cooked oats from the microwave. Enjoy with a hot cup of coffee or tea!!!

Note: You don’t need any sugar or honey as figs have high natural sugar content. You can add strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries instead of cherry tomatoes.
