Apple cinnamon oats with figs and banana

Bought Uncle Toby’s instant mixed fruit-flavoured oats. Today, I am using apple cinnamon oats with figs and banana that are fully ripe. As you know I don’t like wasting food. I am adding a pinch or two cinnamon powder. Be thankful to have food on the table.

“Figs are nutrient-dense fruits rich in fiber, potassium, calcium, and antioxidants, promoting digestive and heart health while supporting bone density and providing energy. Both fresh and dried varieties are nutritious, though dried figs are more calorie-dense. Their high fiber content aids digestion, and potassium helps manage cholesterol and blood pressure. Figs also supply essential vitamins and minerals, including Vitamins A, K, B, iron, and magnesium, while containing polyphenols and flavonoids that combat inflammation. However, due to their high natural sugar content, consumption should be moderate, as excessive intake may cause digestive issues and interfere with blood-thinning medications.

“Yellow with brown spots bananas are fully ripe, sweeter, and easier to digest than less mature varieties. They have a high concentration of antioxidants and sugar, making them a quick energy source. Their fiber content and minerals benefit the body, and they are gentle on sensitive digestive systems. The starch in less-ripe bananas converts to sugar in very ripe ones, and their soft texture makes them perfect for natural sweeteners in recipes like banana bread or smoothies.”

This is my healthy oats recipe with figs and banana for late night snack. Let’s make using a microwave. No hassles and quick.

Ingredients

Ingredients

1 packet of instant strawberry flavoured oat
1 huge plum fig, cut into bite size
1 yellow with brown spots banana, cut into bite size
1/2 c skim milk
a pinch or two cinnamon powder (OPT)

Method

Empty the oat packet into a bowl with a plate at the bottom for easy handling when it’s hot. Add in milk. Next, add in banana and figs. Give a couple of stirs. Place into the microwave, and cook the oats with milk, figs, and banana for 30 seconds. Open the microwave door, and stir a couple of times.

Cling wrap the bowl and cook for a further 30 seconds. Now open the door and remove the cling wrap. Stir a couple of times. Then cover with the cling wrap and cook again for another 30 seconds. Now it’s ready. Open the microwave door and use a cloth to remove the plate with the bowl of cooked oats from the microwave. Enjoy with a hot cup of milk!!!

Note: You don’t need any sugar or honey as figs have high natural sugar content. You can add strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries instead of cherry tomatoes.
