Helen’s simple affogato

My sister came over and gave me some grinded coffee powder. I decided to take out my coffee machine to make myself and her a good brewed coffee to go with my leftover honey-flavoured ice cream. To called it my own, I have added salted caramel biscuits bite and chocolate sprinkles.

Google: “Affogato is Gelato “drowned” in Espresso. An easy and quick Italian spoon dessert recipe. Perfect in any season and for any occasion. If you like the flavour of sweet and creamy gelato, mingling with the strong flavour of espresso, an Affogato is the treat for you. You usually enjoy Affogato at the end of a meal. A dessert always up-to-date, quick to make and always appreciated. This thanks to the perfect mix and balance of flavours, consistencies and temperatures.”

“Espresso has a tradition deeply rooted in Italian culture. Have an Espresso after a meal is almost a ritual for many Italians. If we dip a scoop of gelato into the coffee then…Wow! This is an amazing combo! With Affogato your gelato melts slightly in the Espresso. It becomes creamy, partly cold and partly hot. A fantastic, truly greedy contrast that won’t make you regret the more elaborate desserts!”

Here’s mine simple affogato, I don’t have gelato nor the coffee powder from Italy like a true Italian would have. I have used ice cream and Australian brewed coffee. We had it with lemon crisp wreath. Enjoy!!!

Ingredients

1 to 2 scoops ice cream or gelato if you have
1 cup of espresso about 50 ml or strong Italian brewed coffee
some caramel biscuits bite
some chocolate sprinkles

Method

Add 2 scoops of ice cream into a glass. Then pour hot coffee directly on top of the ice cream. Garnish with biscuits bite and sprinkles some chocolate sprinkles over the top.  Serve immediately. Enjoy!!!!
