Spooky rocky soil bloody chocolate mousse

Here’s another spooky treat I have created. Last minute decided to make it. My mousse is eggless and I had added Kahlua liqueur, milk, gelatine powder and peppermint essence. Addition I have added oreo biscuits to make the rocky soil, blueberries and red food colouring honey blood. Using my cocktail glasses.

Google: “A mousse (/ˈmuːs/, French: [mus]; lit. ’foam’) is a soft prepared food that incorporates air bubbles to give it a light and airy texture. Depending on preparation techniques, it can range from light and fluffy to creamy and thick. A mousse may be sweet or savoury.”

“Sweet mousses are typically made with whipped egg whites, whipped cream, or both, and flavoured with one or more of chocolate, coffee, caramel, puréed fruits, or various herbs and spices, such as mint or vanilla. In the case of some chocolate mousses, egg yolks are often stirred into melted chocolate to give the final product a richer mouthfeel. Mousses are also typically chilled before being served, which gives them a denser texture. Additionally, mousses are often frozen into silicone molds and unmoulded to give the mousse a defined shape. Sweetened mousse is served as a dessert or used as an airy cake filling. It is sometimes stabilised with gelatine.”

I tried to taint the rim of the glasses with red food colouring and honey and let it drip down. My honey was too liquid as I accidentally added water. So, I changed it to adding it to the mousse inside the glasses and drizzling it on top of the rocky soil, eyeballs, and blueberries. I’m glad it turned out perfectly bloody mousse and I was able to get rid of the eyeballs. Let’s invite Dracula for trick-or-treating!!!

Ingredients

500 ml thickened cream
250 g dark melting chocolate chips
1 Tsp peppermint essence
1 Tsp gelatine powder
1 Tbs hot boiling water
1 Tbs Kahlua liqueur
1 Tbs milk

Spooky decorations

10 oreo biscuits, roughly crush
eyeballs
blueberries
red food colouring
honey

Method

Put chocolate into a big metal bowl. Heat half of the thickened cream in a pot on medium-high heat until bubbles begin to form around the edges. Pour the hot cream over the chocolate and let it sit for 30 seconds. Stirs with a whisk until chocolate melted, mixture is smooth and well combined. Put the hot boiling water into a heatproof glass, sprinkle gelatine powder into the hot boiling water and stir to mix well.

Place the glass with gelatine powder and water into microwave, heat 30 seconds then stir until dissolved. Pour in gelatine mixture, the remaining thickened cream, peppermint essence and whisk again till combined. Cover and chill in freezer for 30 minutes.

Meantime, spoon about 2 Tbs honey and add 1 Tbs hot boiling water, stirs to mix. Next add a tiny drop of red food colouring. Stirs to mix well. Using pastry brush: brush the rim of the glasses and drizzle some bloody mixture around the inside of cocktail glasses.

Then crush roughly oreo biscuits, spoon about 2 Tsp onto the bottom of cocktail glasses. Bring the mouse from freezer, add Kahlua and milk. Beat with electric beater until peaks form. Don’t over beat. Spoon onto glasses and chill again for 20 minutes before serving for fluffier texture.

Just before serving place about 8 blueberries around and on top of the mousse. Then scatter some more roughly crushed oreo biscuits all over the mousse. Next place 5 eyeballs: 3 on top of blueberries and two on the mousse, slightly hidden in the mousse and rocky soil. Then drizzle some more bloody mixture all over; making sure eyeballs have some bloody mixture. Enjoy!!!!
