Bought garlic bread and bacon on sale. Eggs are not on sale today. My simple quick lunch. Just heat up oven and cook the garlic bread for 8 minutes. Then pan fry bacon.
“Garlic bread is a tasty side dish made with garlic, butter or oil, and herbs, baked until golden. While it offers health benefits from garlic, such as antioxidants that enhance immune function and heart health, it can also be high in calories, fat, and sodium, particularly if made with refined flour and butter. Healthier options involve using whole-grain bread and olive oil. Consuming garlic bread in moderation and opting for better ingredients can help mitigate its downsides.”
“Bacon is a smoked and cured meat from a pig’s belly, rich in protein, B vitamins, phosphorus, selenium, and choline, promoting energy, immunity, and brain health. However, it’s high in sodium and fat, being classified as processed meat by the World Health Organization, which associates it with increased cancer risk. While it offers health benefits, especially in uncured forms, moderation is key. It contains essential nutrients for muscle and brain health, and high-quality options may include omega-3 fatty acids. Bacon should be consumed in small portions, paired with antioxidant-rich fruits and vegetables to mitigate risks.”
My very lazy meal is cooked in preheated oven and on a saucepan. Garlic flavoured, healthy, and delicious. Let’s cook!!!
Ingredients
1 packet of garlic bread
1 packet of bacon
oil
Method
Preheat oven 220 degrees C. Line baking tray with foil. Removed the plastic packaging and the baking paper in between the loaf of garlic. Place into baking tray and bake in the oven for 8-10 minutes. Prepare a plate with paper towel and set aside.
Now place 1 Tsp oil and raw bacon pieces in a cold, dry saucepan, ensuring they lie flat and do not overlap. A cast iron pan is ideal, but any frying pan will work. Place the pan on the stove over a medium-low heat. Starting with a cold saucepan allows the fat to render slowly, resulting in crispier bacon.
Cook the bacon slowly, allowing the fat to melt out from the meat. This process can take about 10 minutes, depending on the heat. Use food clippers to flip the bacon frequently, rotating the pieces to ensure even cooking. If the bacon starts cooking too quickly or the edges are burning, turn the heat down.
Once the bacon reaches your preferred level of crispness, remove it from the pan and place it on a prepared plate lined with paper towels to drain excess grease. Then assemble 4 garlic bread on a plate. Followed by 2 cooked to my liking bacon on top of the 2 garlic bread. Enjoy with a big cup of brewed Malaysian coffee. Enjoy!!!
