Air fryer baked apple stuffed craisin blueberry with ice cream blueberry and honey butter sauce

Since I bought an air fryer, I have been exploring what food and how to cook food in my air fryer. As usual I love changing the ingredients and at time method to prepare and cook. Today I am trying out stuffing apple. Of course, I do browse stuffed apple recipes on google just to get a hang on what is important things to do to keep the air fryer shelf life longer and keep me healthy.

Google:” Benefits of Using an Air Fryer – It can include lower cook time, create healthier versions of the favourite delicious meals, and only need a small amount of counter space. Once you have tried the air fryer experience, you will be one of the millions of air fryer users who enjoy their crispy meals without the hassle of using a regular oven.”

“When baking apple for a sweet treat, using sweet apples, like Fuji, Pink Lady, Honeycrisp, and Gala apples are perfect. Depending on your taste preference, you can really use your favourite crispy apples. The Granny Smith’s are tart apples, which is nice for a flavour variety.”

I am using Royal gala, craisins, blueberries and garnish with more blueberries, ice cream and honey butter sauce. I like to peel the skin of the apple; you don’t have to. Well, I am glad that my experiment is fast, healthy, beautiful, comforting and delicious. Let’s make use of the air fryer!!!!

Ingredients

1 Royal gala apple, pee skin and core See note
6 blueberries
6 craisins
5 Tbs butter, melted, divided
1 Tbs honey
1/4 Tsp castor sugar
1/8 Tsp cinnamon, plus extra

Garnish

8 blueberries
ice cream
more butter mixture

Method

In a metal bowl, combine blueberries, and castor sugar. Gently press blueberries with the fork, until lightly thicken. Then add in craisins and cinnamon. Stir in 1 Tbs melted butter until the ingredients are combined. Set aside.

Next peel the apple, wash and pat dry. Cut the top of the apple off along with the stem a bit. Make sure to cut a small part of the bottom of the apple as well, so it stands up without shifting or rolling. (See Note). Then use apple corer to scoop out the apple core and remove all seeds. Set aside. Melt 4 Tbs butter with honey in microwave or on stove in a small sauce pot.

Meantime, fill the hole with blueberries mixture. Make a small square tray with foils use 3 layers. Transfer the stuffed apple inside the square tray foil; making sure the apple weight is in the middle the foils, and then brush with 1/2 Tbs melted butter mixture. Sprinkles some cinnamon on top of apple.

Bring out air fryer cup container. Gently and carefully place stuffed apple in foil tray into the bottom of the flat metal holes holder of air fryer. Then place the cup back into the machine. Switch on the plug and set the temperature and time. Bake at 180 degrees C for firm apple, take them out at 8-10 minutes, a bit firm and not too soft for 12-14. For, softer apples, bake them for 15-17 minutes. I baked mine for 11-12 minutes.

When air fryer apple time is up, bring out the cup. It’s very hot, so put it on double plate mats. To test if apple had softened a bit, prick with fork. Let it sit for 3-5 minutes before removing the apple from the flat metal holes holder: I use a tiny metal spanner and clips on the center with a hump to lift out the flat metal holder carefully and making sure foil tray don’t move, apple don’t fall over and making sure apple stuffing are intact. Then using metal food grab to transfer it to a plate. Garnish with more blueberries and spoon some butter mixture over the apple and onto the plate. Enjoy with a dessert wine, a cup of coffee or tea!!!!

Note: Remember not too much of the apple cavity, just make a small hollow center and don’t go all the way to the bottom of the apple. All you want is to fill with a bit of blueberries mixture. I use medium size apples. Depending on size of apples, you may need to adjust cook time. The larger apples work best to add filling.

You have to make sure the apples you select are sturdy and can stand up on their own. If they’re wobbly, they will just tip over in the air fryer. You may need to adjust the air frying time and temperature slightly based on your brand and model of air fryer. This recipe was tested in a 7 L air fryer no basket only metal flat metal holder to raised it up a bit for air circulation.
