Char chee yoke sake and whiskey egg white minced pork and vegetables pan mee soup

Today my lunch is just leftovers from two separate dishes that I had freezes it a few days ago. Will reheat it to go with the pan mee my dad had bought it for me. Sometimes the leftovers can be made a new dish: so, it’s not wasted.

Char chee yoke is a traditional Hakka braised pork belly with a lot of fat. You got to get at least 3 layers: skin, fat and meat that what my grandma told my mom. As the years goes by all of us kind of not keen on too fatty pork belly, so I got the pork with a bit less fat. I run out of brandy and my whiskey isn’t enough. Also, my 5 spice powder bottle is empty. I had changed my grandma original recipe. Adding sake brings out an umami rich taste. Combining whiskey and sake bring a hint of ginger to the sauce. It also helps to tenderise the meat and adds a delicate aroma to my created dish that is similar to my grandma’s Char chee yoke.

Google: Egg whites have “protein helps your body build strong muscles and maintain muscle mass as you age. Heart-healthy. While egg yolks are fine in moderation, if you are already at risk for heart disease or stroke, your doctor may recommend a heart-healthy diet. With no cholesterol, egg whites are a great addition.”

“Pork is a rich source of certain vitamins and minerals your body needs to function, like iron and zinc. It’s also an excellent source of high-quality protein. Minimally processed, lean, fully-cooked pork eaten in moderation can provide certain benefits when added to your diet.”

My simple lunch is full of flavour, healthy, comforting and delicious. The links for both the dishes are below. You have to cook the two dishes first before making the pan mee soup. Let’s cook!!!!

Ingredients

1 packet pan mee instant noodle
boiling water
some broccoli florets

Method

Thawed the two dishes on the bench top for 4 hours. Then empty them into microwave bowls. Heat them until warmed up. Set aside.

Put the kettle on. Open the pan mee packet and the condiments packets. Place the pan mee and the condiments in the big bowl followed by some broccoli. Once the kettle is boiled, pour the hot water into the big bowl with pan mee. Microwave it for 6-8 minutes. Until pan mee and broccoli are tender and cooked.

When time up for pan mee and broccoli, bring out. Check that broccoli is tender. Spoon some char chee yoke sake and whiskey along the egg white minced pork and vegetables on to the hot cooked pan mee and broccoli. Gives a couple of stirs to mixed all together. Now put back into microwave and reheat further 3-5 minutes to make sure everything is hot and cooked. Serve it with a cold beer!!!
