I bought Brussels sprouts and cabbage on sale. My dad gave me a box of pork rolls. Beancurd skin roll is a lovely dim sum with shrimp and pork stuffing. My quick meal is microwave noodles. It’s freezing cold, so a bowl of soupy noodles is best.
Google: “Brussels sprouts are a nutritious cruciferous vegetable rich in vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, particularly vitamin K, vitamin C, and fiber. These nutrients support health by improving digestion, benefiting heart health, and reducing cancer risk. Low in calories yet high in fiber and essential nutrients, Brussels sprouts help maintain regular digestive health and stable blood sugar levels, while also providing antioxidants that protect your cells from damage.”
Google: “Chinese cabbage, or wombok, is a leafy green vegetable that has a cylindrical shape and pale yellowish-green leaves. It has a mild, slightly peppery taste and is commonly used in East Asian dishes like kimchi, stir-fries, and soups. This nutrient-rich vegetable provides vitamins A, C, and K, along with calcium, potassium, and fiber, which support digestion, strong bones, a healthy heart, and a robust immune system. Chinese cabbage also has antioxidants that may help reduce inflammation and lower cancer risk.”
Glad to have all the healthy vegetables to go with bought pork rolls in beancurd skin. My meal is comforting, certainly do warmed me up. Let’s cook!!!
Ingredients
1 packet sin ram yun noodles
4 Brussels sprouts
2 pork rolls, cut to bite size
1 Chinese cabbage leaves, cut into bite size
white sesame seeds
water
Method
Wash the Brussels sprouts and trim the ends. You can also halve or quarter them for faster cooking or if they are large. Place the sprouts in a microwave-safe bowl with enough of water. Cover the bowl with a lid or microwave-safe plastic wrap. Microwave on high for the time appropriate for the amount of sprouts, usually 3-5 minutes. The sprouts should be bright green and easily pierced with a fork. If they are not tender enough, microwave in 1-minute increments until they are. Set aside.
Wash the cabbage and cut it into bite-sized pieces. Place the cabbage in a microwave-safe dish and use the same water for Brussels sprouts to cook. Cover the dish with a lid or microwave-safe plastic wrap (make sure it’s vented). Microwave on high for 1 minute. Drain the water and set aside.
Put kettle on. Open the shin ram yun noodles and condiments that comes with it into a bowl. Once water is boiled; pour enough hot water into the bowl. Then place into microwave and cook it for 6 minutes. Next add the cooked Brussels sprouts, cabbage, and pork rolls into the noodles and cook a further 1-2 minutes to warmed up the vegetables, pork rolls, and until noodles are softened. Bring out of microwave, scatter the sesame seeds and enjoy with a hot cup of tea.
