Cherry blueberry raspberry strawberry red wine smoothie

Let’s taste the fusion of wine and fruit, explore the blending of flavours

You are going to ask me why red wine smoothie? I love to experiment the combination of various ingredients, and as long as it doesn’t kill me, I am going to try it out of curiosity and craving to taste and see for myself.

Google: “A wine smoothie, also known as a wine slushie or wine cocktail, is a chilled and blended beverage that combines wine with various ingredients like fresh fruit, ice, sweeteners, and sometimes other spirits. The result is a refreshing and fruity concoction that’s often served as a chilled and frosty treat, perfect for warm weather or as a fun twist on traditional wine drinking.”

“To make a wine smoothie, you typically blend wine with your chosen ingredients until it reaches a slushy or smoothie like consistency. The exact recipe can vary, with options ranging from sweet and fruity combinations to more sophisticated mixes. Some wine smoothies may include white or red wine, while others might use sparkling wine or champagne as a base.”

“Wine smoothies, though delicious, are not typically considered a health drink. While they may contain some beneficial components like antioxidants found in wine and vitamins from the fruit, they also can contain a lot of calories. Yes, of course, you can mix wine with fruit juice to create a wine cocktail! In fact, one of the most popular wine cocktails is Sangria. Traditional Sangria is made by mixing red or white wine with citrus fruits (such as oranges and lemons), sweeteners, and sometimes other spirits. It’s a fruity and refreshing beverage”.

I admit I do enjoy both wine and the cool, smooth texture of any fruits smoothie. It’s great to have it on a hot day, can take it to picnic, or when you are having friends who enjoy wine and this could be something that will wow them. My wine smoothie is delicious, refreshing and enjoyable to drink with friends over a dessert. Be brave to try and enjoy!!!

Ingredients

10 cherries, seeds and stems removed
10 strawberries, stems removed
100 g raspberries
100 g blueberries
1 c red wine (Cabernet Sauvignon)
ice cubes

Method

Place all ingredients to a high-speed blender. Start with ice cubes, red wine, cherries, strawberries, raspberries and blueberries. Blitz until smooth. Divide between glasses, chill for 1 hours in fridge. I place them in the freezer for 15 minutes.

Note: Don’t use expensive wine. You can use frozen berries instead of fresh. You can yoghurt or orange juice along with wine but you have to reduce wine.
