Spam meat chili sauce lettuce on pane di casa

Weekend lunch is quick simple and can be canned food or packet noodles soup. Today, I craved for pane di casa and spam meat. When to a supermarket nearby to get spam meat, lettuce and on my way out heading to the cashier, this pane di casa caught my attention. It’s on sale. I grab it.

Google: “Spam is a canned, precooked luncheon meat made from ground pork and ham, along with flavourings and preservatives. Spam is high in sodium, fat and calories. It also provides a little protein and several micronutrients, such as zinc, potassium, iron and copper. Compared to other protein sources, Spam is high in fat and calories but low in protein. Frequently eating Spam without adjusting your diet and calorie intake could cause weight gain.” Eat in moderation.

Google: “Lettuce (Lactuca sativa) is an annual plant of the family Asteraceae mostly grown as a leaf vegetable. The leaves are most often used raw in green salads, although lettuce is also seen in other kinds of food, such as sandwiches, wraps and soups; it can also be grilled. Lettuces have a wide range of shapes and textures, from the dense heads of the iceberg type to the notched, scalloped, frilly or ruffly leaves of leaf varieties. Lettuce is a source of vitamin K, which helps strengthen bones. Consuming adequate amounts of vitamin K can also reduce your risk of bone fracture. Lettuce is a source of vitamin A, which plays a role in eye health. Vitamin A can reduce a person’s risk of cataracts. Vitamin A also helps prevent macular degeneration.”

Google: “Pane di casa is a traditional Italian bread that translates to “bread of the house”. It’s made with flour, water, salt, and yeast, and has a crispy crust and fluffy interior. It’s also ideal for sandwiches, dipping into olive oil, or savouring on its own.” My lunch is colourful, comforting and delicious. Let’s make lunch!!!

Ingredients

1 canned spam meat
2 slices of pane di casa
lettuce
butter or margarine

Method

Cut the Spam lengthwise into 8 equal slices. Slice them as thick or thinly as you would like, then simply place them in to the frying pan. In a large saucepan add a tiny drop of oil on medium heat. Then swirl the oil around the pan.

Cook the spam meat slices 3-5 minutes or until caramelised, flipping halfway through. Meantime buttered pane di casa. Once spam meat done heated up and caramelised, transfer to a lined paper towel plate. Assemble place a slice of pane di casa on the plate. Then place 2 slices of spam meat on top, Squirt 4 dots chili sauce or tomato sauce over the spam meat.

Place some lettuce on top and followed by the second slice of pane di casa. Enjoy with a cup of tea!!
