Had lunch with friends. Then at dinner, not feeling very hungry, I just made something light to eat. Using leftover turkey, ham, and rocket, I had it with bread again. At times, it’s good to have leftovers when you don’t feel hungry but still have to eat something.
Google: “Turkey — and products made from turkey meat — are excellent protein sources. Both turkey and chicken are poultry-based sources of protein. This means that their meat comes from birds. On the other hand, red meat is flesh from mammals. Chicken is higher in calories and fats, including saturated and polyunsaturated, while turkey is higher in protein and cholesterol. Turkey is additionally more abundant in nutrients and minerals like magnesium, copper, vitamin B12, and folate. Notwithstanding, chicken has more vitamin A and vitamin E and less sodium.”
“Ham is pork from a leg cut that has been preserved by wet or dry curing, with or without smoking. As a processed meat, the term “ham” includes both whole cuts of meat and ones that have been mechanically formed. Ham is made around the world, including a number of regional specialties.”
“Is Rocket the Same as Arugula? Let’s cut to the chase, YES, they are one and the same thing! In North America, it’s known as arugula – a variation of the Italian word rucola – but it’s called aruculu in Calabria. In English Commonwealth countries like Australia, New Zealand and Canada, it’s known as rocket.”
I am glad to have leftovers, the turkey meat has certainly absorbed the marinated sauce. My dinner is satisfying, flavourful and delicious. Let’s make simple dinner!!!
Ingredients
1 slice of bread, buttered
1 slice of leftover turkey
1 slice of leftover ham
rocket (arugula)
chili sauce (OPT)
Method
Put turkey and ham on a plate, warm up in microwave and cover with cling wrap. Once done, bring out from microwave and set aside. Spread butter on bread. Then place turkey and ham on top of buttered bread. Followed by rocket. Squirt chili sauce that is a must for me. Serve with a cold beer. Enjoy!!!
Note: you can use just ham, or turkey. You can have cheese slices, you can have egg, or mesclun salad. You can omit butter use pesto, use mayonnaise and omit chilli; use any jam you have in your pantry.
