Halloween Trick or Treating fun for kids
Here’s another spooky treat for young kids. It can be healthy using fruits, especially when kids don’t eat fruits. Thus, it can be fun with decorating sprinkles, eyeballs, or even using fruits such as strawberries, blueberries, and bananas.
Google: “Trick-or-treating is a traditional Halloween custom for children and adults in some countries. During the evening of Halloween, on October 31, people in costumes travel from house to house, asking for treats with the phrase “trick or treat”. The “treat” is some form of confectionery, usually candy/sweets, although in some cultures money is given instead. The “trick” refers to a threat, usually idle, to perform mischief on the resident(s) or their property if no treat is given. Some people signal that they are willing to hand out treats by putting up Halloween decorations outside their doors; houses may also leave their porch lights on as a universal indicator that they have candy; some simply leave treats available on their porches for the children to take freely, on the honor system.”
Make creative, fun desserts with your kids and/or make some spooky food. There will be lots of sugary treats available around Halloween, but encourage kids to enjoy a few sweets that are less sweet and let them decorate the dessert or food. This year, my street is having our own street Halloween party. Each household is to bring a plate. I decided to make a healthy yet spooky fun dessert. My dessert looks cute and scary, but not too scary; most of the kids would love to help with decorations. Let’s get something healthy and a surprise trick-or-treating.
Ingredients
red apples or green apples
mascarpone cream or peanut butter
eyeballs
sprinkles colourful decoration or any fruits
Method
Cut the apples into quarters. Using a sharp knife, make the mouth by cutting on the skin’s side, slowly remove the flesh of the apples. Then spread some mascarpone cream in between the apple holes (mouth). Next, let the kids garnish their apples. Help them glue the eyes with mascarpone cream. Plate three spooky apple monsters on each plate. Let them enjoy eating it in the garden.
