Today, I am trying out my new kitchen toy: 7 L air fryer no basket only metal flat metal holder to raised it up a bit for air circulation. I agreed it was fast to baked only 9-12 minutes though the space in the air fryer is small, and can only cook for only 1 to 3 people serving. Not for big eaters as well as big family.
Google: “Air fryers also require little to no oil and deep fryers require a lot that absorb into the food. Food comes out crispy and juicy in both appliances, but don’t taste the same, usually because deep fried foods are coated in batter that cook differently in an air fryer versus a deep fryer. Battered foods needs to be sprayed with oil before cooking in an air fryer to help them colour and get crispy, while the hot oil soaks into the batter in a deep fryer. Flour-based batters and wet batters don’t cook well in an air fryer, but they come out very well in a deep fryer. 7 Foods You Should Never Cook In Your Air Fryer: Wet Batters, those beer-battered onion rings, fries, fish cutlets, plus tempura veggies and more are not well suited for a crisp in the air fryer, Cheesy Items, Large, Bone-In Meat Cuts, Baked Goods-not heat resistant, paper towel, Greens, Raw Rice and Other Grains, oil, and too much of anything”.
Google: “Anjou pears are especially great for baking because they can withstand high temperatures. D’Anjou pears can be enjoyed in many ways. This pear is juicy when ripe and has a subtle sweetness with just a hint of a refreshing lemon-lime flavour! Their dense flesh holds up well under heated applications, like baking, poaching, roasting, or grilling. Sweetly mellow with a smooth and juicy texture, this is the kind of pear to eat for breakfast: sliced over warm cereal, its flavour is both comforting and bright”.
I am glad it turned out perfectly baked golden colour, moist, soft and delicious. I served it with more fresh blueberries, ice cream and blueberry orange puree and a few more shakes of black peppers. Let get air fryer to use for healthy dessert.
Ingredients
1 small pear (preferred Anjou)
1 Tbs butter
1/2 Tbs honey
4 blueberries, extra garnish
tiny bits of cranberries
ice cream
black pepper (opt)
Blueberry orange puree
40 g blueberries
1/8 c orange juice
Method
Bring out air fryer cup container, lined the flat metal holes holder with double layer foils, enough to put two halved pears and leaving a bit of the holes uncovered.
Wash the pear, peel the skins, cut into half lengthwise, tiny cut on the hump of pear so it can stand up and core the center of pear: remove seeds. Pat dry with paper towel. Set aside. Melt the butter with honey in microwave or on stove in a small sauce pot. Shakes some pepper into butter mixture. Let it cool for 2 minutes.
Brush butter mixture all over the pears, lay on the lined flat metal holes holder. Place the two halved pear on top of the foil. Next put tiny bits of cranberries and 2 blueberries on each pear holes, making sure the pears weight is on the foil. Then place into the cup and put in back into the machine. Be careful that the foils don’t fly up to the hot element. Switch on the air fryer, set the temperature to 180 degrees C and time for 9-12 minutes.
Meantime, puree blueberries with orange juice in Nutri Bullet. Set aside. When air fryer pear time is up, bring out the cup. It’s very hot, so put it on double plate mats. To test if pear had softened, prick with fork. Let it sit for 3-5 minutes before removing the pears from the flat metal holes holder: I use a tiny metal spanner and clips on the center with a hump to lift out the flat metal holder from the cup; making sure pear stuffing are intact.
Then using metal food grab to transfer it to a plate. Garnish with more blueberries and spoon some blueberry orange puree over the pears. Then place a scoop of ice cream on top of pears and spoon some more puree over the top of ice cream. Next shakes a few more pepper on top. Enjoy!!!!
