I felt like having pane di casa and had some leftover coleslaw. I bought pane di casa and cherry tomatoes for lunch. “Pane di casa means “bread of the house” in Italian. It’s a traditional homemade bread made with flour, water, salt, and yeast. It’s not the healthiest option; it can be a healthy diet in moderation, with nutritious toppings like eggs or coleslaw. It has a crisp crust and a soft inside, and can be enjoyed plain, with olive oil, or as a base for sandwiches, bruschetta, and soups. It has become a popular commercial bread.”
“Chicken eggs are healthy and packed with nutrients. They provide choline, vitamins A, D, E, and B12, along with minerals like iron and iodine. It source of omega-3 fatty acids that support brain function and vision, as well as antioxidants like lutein and zeaxanthin that protect against vision loss as we age. Eggs nine essential amino acids; complete protein essential for growth and repair. Those with high cholesterol should see a doctor. Be careful how you cook eggs, as adding fatty or salty ingredients can lower their health benefits.”
“Cherry tomatoes are a nutritious fruit; boosting immunity, slowing aging, lowering blood pressure, reducing cholesterol, and preventing cancer. They are high in antioxidants like lutein and lycopene; protect against cancer and heart disease. However, if you have acid reflux or certain allergies, you may want to avoid them. They are packed with vitamins A and C, minerals, and high in fiber.”
Google: “While air frying eggs is generally safe, there is a small chance of them exploding, especially if overcooked or if there are existing hairline cracks.” I am trusting God to hard boiled eggs in an air fryer. Thanks to God’s help, my eggs are perfectly done; no explosion. Phew!!! at least I tried air fryer eggs. My lunch is colourful, healthy, and delicious. Let’s air fryer eggs!!!
Ingredients
3 pane di casa
3 halved cherry tomatoes
2 large egg
leftover coleslaw
butter
salt
pepper
chili sauce
Method
Preheat the air fryer to 120°C for 5 minutes. Carefully remove the cup of air fryer from the machine and gently place the eggs in the air fryer basket. Cook the eggs for 15 minutes for hard-boiled, 12 minutes for medium-boiled, or 10 minutes for soft-boiled. While the eggs cook, prepare the ice bath. Fill a metal bowl halfway with ice, then add cold water until the metal bowl is 3/4 filled.
After cooking, immediately transfer the eggs using a deep ladle to the prepared metal ice bath. Let sit for 5-10 minutes, until cool to the touch but not ice cold; to stop the cooking process and make them easier to peel. Gently crack the egg shells, rolling them a bit along a hard surface to make cracks along all sides. Peel and use egg cutter to slice them nicely. Put on a plate.
Butter the pane di casa, and cut the cherry tomatoes into half. Now assemble place 3 sliced pane di casa on the square plate. Two outside pane di casa, put the leftover coleslaw, followed by 4 sliced eggs. Then squirt chili sauce or tomato sauce. The middle pane di casa place 3 sliced eggs and followed by 3 cut halved cherry tomatoes. Enjoy with thankful heart to God for His help and prevented the explosion of the egg.
Note: Google: “While not common, eggs can explode in an air fryer, especially if they are already cracked or if they are overcooked. Eggs can explode due to the rapid expansion of water inside the egg as it heats up. This can create pressure that exceeds the shell’s strength, causing it to crack or explode. To minimize the risk of explosions, it’s best to use fresh eggs, avoid overcooking, and ensure the eggs are cooled quickly after cooking.”
“Hard boiled eggs can be refrigerated for up to one week whether they’re peeled or unpeeled. For unpeeled hard boiled eggs, store them in any container, sealed or unsealed. For peeled hard-boiled eggs, store them in a bowl of cold water to cover. Make sure to change the water daily. Or you can store them in a sealed container without water. Instead, cover the eggs with damp paper towels.”
Another recipe said “Eggs within the same carton can vary in size. Use large eggs (about 57g/2oz each) for the cooking times given. If your eggs are slightly larger or smaller, add or subtract 2 minutes, respectively.”
“Batch cook large quantities of eggs. Since air fryer hard boiled eggs last for about a week in the refrigerator, you can air fry several eggs in batches of 4 (or the amount you know your air fryer can hold) and store them for a quick snack or meal addition.”
“Fresh eggs are more difficult to peel. Just check the expiration date on the package. If you are within a couple of weeks of the date, they should peel more easily!”
