Turkey rolled with green beans and cherries tomatoes

I got my sister to get me this turkey rolled from Woollies Supermarket as I though my whole turkey wouldn’t be enough. There are instructions on roasting it. I didn’t follow the instruction. I choose to baste it with herbs and butter. I have also added green beans and cherries tomatoes. At least we have a few marinated flavours of turkeys to enjoy.

This is much better to roast as it takes less hours to roast the whole turkey. Thus, it’s a bit cheaper too. There are no bones and have a little bit of skin. Got to be adventurous to tryout different type of turkey. As usual, I browse google for what marinade to use. There are a lot of different marinade. I opted for an easy one to save time and as I am also doing the whole turkey.

Along with it I have also made thyme and white sauce to go with this turkey. I am glad to pick this simple marinade and am happy that this turkey rolled is perfectly roasted, flavourful, colourful, moist and delicious served with the sauce and vegetables. Let’s roast!!!

Ingredients

1 box of turkey rolled, 1kg, thawed 24 hours in fridge
350 g green beans
11 cherries tomatoes
salt
pepper
water
oil spray (OPT)

Herbs butter for basting

125 g unsalted butter, softened
3-4 sprigs of thyme, leaves only
1 sprig of rosemary, leaves only
2 Tbs chopped parsley
2 Tsp garlic powder
salt
black pepper

Method

Make the herbs butter basting: Place butter in a bowl and microwave about 15 seconds until softened to paste likeness. Chopped rosemary leaves and parsley. Then add in to the softened butter with thyme leaves, garlic powder, salt and black pepper to taste. Mix well and set aside.

Preheat oven 170 degrees C. Line baking tray with triple foil. Place another deep tray with water into the oven. Removed the box and plastic packaging. Let turkey stand at room temperature for 30 minutes. Place turkey on to the tray with the foil it came with. Roast it for 30 minutes.

Removed from oven and removed the foil that wrap the turkey. Be careful its hot, brush some herbs butter marinade over the top. Gently remove the turkey, back into the lined tray using a tong by flipping over so basting side is at the bottom. Then brush some marinade over the top, and turn to it side baste the marinade and the other side too.

Now place back into over, check that it is enough water in the other tray. Close the oven door and roast a further 30 minutes. This time turkey should be cook. Bring out turkey, baste the marinade all over and then back into oven for another 30 minutes. Be sure to check that it’s not burn but have some crispy texture.

When the turkey is done, removed from oven, let it rest about 20 minutes before slicing the turkey with a serrated knife. Cut the stems of green beans. Wash cherries tomatoes. Meantime, place enough water in saucepan, add some salt.

Once water is boiling, add in green beans and blanch for 3-5 minutes. Using slotted spoon move it around. Once green beans are a little soft, spoon it out into ice cold basin to stop it from cooking further. Remove green bean from cold water, plate up in 4 bundles and lay them along the sides of plate. Spray some oil over the green beans.

Slice the turkey rolled and plate it in the middle of the plate between the 4 bundles of green beans. Then place 4 cherries tomatoes on the four corners of plate. Followed by 2 on each side and between the green beans. Season with salt and black pepper. Serve immediately with ham, salad and other dishes. Enjoy!!!

Note: you can follow the instruction on the box. You may want to garnish with rocket, salad roasted carrots, potatoes, or cos lettuce. You can marinade with any marinade of your choice.
