Scary garlic bread poached egg strawberry and pomegranate

This year, my street is not having Halloween party and I am also not going out to spook anyone but still I am making myself a spooky dinner. I am experimenting poaching eggs in the oven.

Google: “Yes, you can poach eggs in the oven using a muffin tin and add about one tablespoon of water, preheating the oven to 180°C (350°F). Crack an egg into each cup and bake for 9-14 minutes until the whites are set and yolks reach the desired consistency.”

“Halloween, celebrated on 31 October, marks the eve of All Saints’ Day and initiates Allhallowtide, a time for remembering the dead. In Australia, it’s characterized by costume parties, spooky decorations, and trick-or-treating. Parents are encouraged to make creative desserts with their kids and offer less sweet treats that children can decorate.”

“Garlic has anti-inflammatory compounds that boost the immune system and is rich in antioxidants like allicin, which may lower the risk of chronic diseases. It can also help reduce blood pressure and cholesterol, benefiting cardiovascular health, especially when combined with whole-grain bread for its fiber content that aids digestion.”

“Eggs are a nutritious food rich in protein, healthy fats, vitamins, and minerals, providing benefits like supporting brain health, vision, and muscle maintenance, while aiding in weight management due to high satiety. The cholesterol in eggs has a minimal effect on blood cholesterol for most healthy individuals, and choline is important for brain development. Antioxidants in eggs protect against eye diseases, while vitamin D aids calcium absorption for bone health. They are low in calories and high in protein, promoting fullness, but those with heart issues or high LDL cholesterol should limit intake to about seven eggs weekly.”

This time no desserts but main. Glad my own idea did turned out scary. Let’s cook!!!

Ingredients

1 round garlic bread
2 eggs
2 strawberries
1 Tbs water
pomegranate

Method

Preheat your oven to 180°C. Grease a small round oven-safe dish. Spray some oil on the top of the round shape garlic. I cracked one egg into a small bowl. Then the second egg; reserved the yolk and place the egg white into the first cracked egg.

Now pour the egg with two egg white on top of the garlic bread. It’s ok if some white slide down. Then the one egg yolk, lightly beaten and then pour it at the far right top corner; allowing it drip down the side of garlic bread.

Bake for 8-10 minutes first. Bring out the dish with mitten, carefully slit a row on the white egg section and make an indent with a small spoon. Then put it back into oven again and bake a further 5-6 minutes. The whites should be fully set, while the yolks should still be soft and runny. The eggs will continue to set slightly after removal from the oven. If you prefer a firmer yolk, cook for two minutes longer.

Once done, removed the dish from oven. Let it sit for 1-2 minutes before garnishing with cut shaped strawberries to make eyes and nose then line pomegranate as the mouth at the bottom of egg and garlic bread. Enjoy the scary garlic bread poached egg strawberry and pomegranate with a glass of red wine!!!
