I watch Nigella TV program cooking. Felt like having the clementine cake. The next day went to get Clementine oranges. Her recipe are attached at the bottom.
This is a very simple cake recipe. However, preparing time is long. Nigella cook her Clementine orange for 2 hours. Then dump everything after cutting into small bite and blitz and add the other ingredients and place in pan and in oven.
As usual I change some ingredients to call my own. Well, my cake was slightly burn, yet the taste is there same as Nigella cake. I am glad to learn how to bake orange cake in a simple way. It’s pleasingly moist, dense, aromatic and delicious. Let’s bake!!!
Ingredients
375 g Clementine oranges (3 medium size navels or tangelo)
6 eggs
250 g castor sugar
250 g semolina flour
20 ml orange juice
1 tsp baking powder
Method
Preheat oven 190 deg C. Lined the bottom of cake tin and brush butter on the side. Place oranges in pot of water, bring to boil and cook for 2 hours, do check water level. Drain and when cool cut each into half and remove pips. Dump everything: skins, fruits and pits into food processor; gives a quick blitz.
Add the remaining ingredient and mix well. Por the cake mixture into prepared tin. Bake for 40 minutes to stop burning cover with foil. My cake was a bit wet when skewer in and out, so I bake further about 20 minutes. Remove from oven and leave to cool on rack in tin. Then transfer to cake container base to cool further before cutting a piece. Enjoy!!!!
Note: Leave cake in tin for one day. Can serve with cream or on its own.
