Rump steak coated in cheese roasted cherries tomatoes and boiled Brussel sprouts

Found this picture again which I thought I have lost it. Well, I only buy rump steak when it’s on sale. Also bought Brussel sprouts on sale. I guess this is my weekend dinner. Dinner for one.

I know it’s not well presented, I decided to dump my last piece of cheese on top of my rump while checking my rump and turning my cherries tomatoes. Well, it worth the flavour, healthy with Brussel sprouts and comforting. Let’s cook!!!

Ingredients

1 rump steak
1 piece of cheese
5 Brussel sprouts
4 cherries tomatoes
olive oil
salt
pepper
water to boil Brussel sprouts

Method


Remove the steaks from the fridge and allow them to come to room temperature at least an hour before you begin. Preheat 180 degrees C. Place a heavy-based pan over a high heat and add a splash of oil. Pat the steak dry with a paper towel and sprinkle both sides generously with salt and pepper.

When the pan is very hot, with the oil almost at smoking point, add the steak and cook for 3 minutes on each side. Transfer the steak to a baking tray with cherries tomatoes and put it into the oven for 10–15 minutes.

Meantime, put Brussel sprout with enough water in microwave safe bowl, microwave for about 10-15 minutes until softened and cooked. Drain and set aside on plate.

Now check on rump: press the outside center of my steak with tongs to judge the degree of doneness. If steak is very soft, it means that the steak is undercooked. If it is firm, then you have a well done steak. I have dump a piece of cheese over my rump.

Switch off oven leave the baking tray in oven for about 2 minutes to melt the cheese. Remove the steak from the oven, season with pepper and rest on a baking tray, covered loosely with foil, for a further 10 minutes.

Warm up plate with Brussel sprouts for 3 minutes on microwave. Then place cherries tomatoes and followed by rump steam coated with cheese in the middle. Serve immediately with a glass of red wine. Enjoy!!!!
